The Final Stretch

We have been intensely focused on charging ahead towards completion these past few months. Thanks to being stuck in the construction vortex, three months have passed since our last blog. The house is quickly looking like a home. There is so much to share that this blog is more of a pictorial timeline, than a narrative blog. After all, pictures say more about our progress than any number of words ever could.

If this project was a marathon, we would be on mile 22. Every marathoner knows the hardest part of any race is when you are within a few miles of the finish line, but not close enough. It hurts to be so close you can see the end, but not close enough that you can stop. We are trying to be patient, but it's hard when we have less than a month to go until move-in.

October: Deck, siding, windows, and ground work

October 29: Work Party

In a final push to get the hillsides stabilized before our November 1 City of Seattle deadline, we threw a "Cross Fit Construction Party." We had over 20 friends and family show up with their shovels, rakes, and smiles. We were incredibly grateful for extra help.

John prepares his first meal in the "kitchen" to kick off the work party. Albert said it was actually delicious.

November and December: Shingles, insulation, electrical, plumbing, sheet rock, fireplace, paint, and driveway

January: ground work finishing touches, hardwood floors, cabinets, counter tops, and a snow storm

  1. Wow! I love all the new pictures. Already so many new things since I was there. LOVE the fireplace, flooring, cabinets & countertops!!! I really enjoyed seeing the snow pictures and the view from the back of the house looking down over Alki. What a beautiful project! You guys are so close & should be very proud of yourselves. :)
